At the Atlantic Skull Base Surgery Program, we understand that cancer treatment can be complicated and confusing for patients and families. Our patient navigators – trained professionals with extensive knowledge about skull base tumor symptoms, treatment and resources – help guarantee that our patients receive the best possible medical care, as well as emotional support and guidance throughout all stages of care. In addition, our resource navigators can provide non-medical assistance.
- Explain medical terms and processes to the patient and caregivers throughout the course of treatment and after treatment
- Assist with coordinating appointments and follow up care, as well as follow patients to ensure completion of the recommended treatment plan
- Identify and refer patients to appropriate medical, social and community resources and locate services that can help the patient and caregivers deal with the stress of a cancer diagnosis
