When patients are properly educated about their orthopedic care, they are less anxious and have a more positive attitude to surgical procedures. That’s why Atlantic Orthopedic Institute at Newton Medical Center provides patients and referring physicians with all of the medical information they need before, during and after treatment through a wide variety of approaches.
Each individual receives personalized information about what he or she can expect during an upcoming procedure. We also prescribe Emmi educational videos and published materials to help guide expectations.
Joint Replacement Education Sessions
In addition, we offer classes for patients who are scheduled for total hip or total knee replacement surgeries. Discussions are led by certified instructors and cover a variety of topics, including preoperative preparation, postoperative care in the hospital and at home, physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise, and pain management. Sessions are held in the Romano Conference and Education Center, Room 100. Registration is not required. For available dates and more information, please call 1-800-247-9580.
