Balance Rehabilitation

Although dizziness is among the most common symptom seen by physicians and may go away on its own, patients with vertigo, motion sickness or frequent, unexplained falls, may need comprehensive treatment to achieve quality of life.  That’s why Atlantic Rehabilitation at Newton Medical Center provides balance, or vestibular, rehabilitation services.

Treatment plans may include:

  • Initial assessment – provided by a physical therapist trained in identifying and managing balance disorders

  • Canalith repositioning – non-invasive treatment that involves a series of head movements to transfer inner ear particles to a location where they will no longer cause problems

  • Balance retraining – uses both static and dynamic routines

  • Exercise programs – improves strength, range of motion, flexibility and mobility, while decreasing dizziness symptoms
