Newton Medical Center: The Patient Experience
Mammography uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts and aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women. At Newton Medical Center, we offer digital mammography, which uses electrical signals to produce images of the inner breast tissue.
Often accompanied by a mammogram, bone density scans test for osteoporosis by using X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are in a segment of bone.
No preparation is necessary for bone density scans, but you may be asked to wear a gown.
Newton Medical Center’s radiologists are experts in supervising and interpreting radiology examinations. They will analyze your mammography and send a signed report to your primary care physician or the physician who referred you for the exam. He or she will discuss the results with you. You will also be notified by mail of the results of your mammography within 30 days of your exam.
