Newton Medical Center: The Patient Experience
Nuclear medicine, or radionuclide imaging, is a noninvasive test that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers and heart disease.
At Newton Medical Center, we provide several diagnostic exams that incorporate nuclear medicine, including single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), cardiac stress tests, and bone, thyroid and renal scans. It is also used in some of our treatments, such as radioactive iodine therapy.
Newton Medical Center’s radiologists are experts in supervising and interpreting radiology examinations. They will analyze your nuclear medicine images and send a signed report to your primary care physician or the physician who referred you for the exam.
