Michele Gilsenan, DO
Program Director, Overlook Medical Center Sports Medicine Fellowship

Dr. Gilsenan is board-certified and fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine and has a private practice in Clark, NJ. She serves as head team physician for four local school districts, Cranford, Clark, Millburn, and Watchung Hills; plus two collegiate programs, Kean University and Union County College. Previously she was the primary care sports physician for the Seton Hall women's basketball team and the XFL New Jersey Hitmen. She has also served as a ring-side physician for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Academically, Dr. Gilsenan is adjunct professor for Kean University, adjunct clinical professor for the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and adjunct clinical professor for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Dr. Gilsenan is an active member of the Board of Directors of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and the New Jersey Medical Society Committee on Sports Medicine. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Gilsenan taught and coached at the high school level.

Michael E. Beams, DO

Dr. Beams has been practicing medicine in Clark, NJ, for more than 30 years. He did his undergraduate studies at Seton Hall University and attended medical school at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa.

He is board-certified in family medicine, primary care sports medicine, and quality assurance and utilization review. Dr. Beams is an attending physician at Overlook Medical Center and an associate clinical professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and at Seton Hall University, School of Post-Graduate Medical Education.

He and his associates are the sports physicians for Cranford High School, Millburn High School, Arthur L Johnson High School, Kean University and World Wrestling Entertainment.

Dr. Beams serves as a member of the Cranford Board of Health. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. He also serves as squad physician for the Cranford Rescue Squad.

Peter F. Barry, DO

Dr. Peter Barry graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999 and completed training in internal medicine and primary care sports medicine through Barnabas Health. He also completed advanced training in acupuncture at New York Medical College. He is board-certified in both internal medicine and sports medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

His particular areas of interest are in the field of preventative medicine and the use of complementary and alternative techniques to treat headaches, injuries and pain.

Dr. Barry has lectured on the local and national levels in the fields of sports medicine, acupuncture and physiologic-regulating medicine. He was twice honored as Top Physician in Internal Medicine. Most recently he also received an award from the New Jersey Hospice Association as hospice physician for the year for New Jersey.
