In health care, communication is incredibly challenging. More than 1,000 research studies have shown us that the way health care professionals communicate is too complex. Nine out of ten people sometimes struggle to understand health information and properly use health services.
The "Clear Communication in Health Care" project, a collaboration between Atlantic Health System and Zufall Health Center, shares the stories of real people with the help of PhotoVoice. Ten participants were given cameras and asked to take photos that reflect their experience with health care communication. The photos in the slideshow below are the result of this process. The captions beneath each photo were provided by the participants.
The goal of this project is to help you think differently about the way we find, receive and use health information. We hope you'll gain an idea of how you – as a health care provider, patient, caregiver, or community member – can make health care communication as clear as possible.
