Tai Chi

Tai ChiTai Chi is a series of flowing, contrasting movements that relies on specific postures to improve balance, coordination, and concentration and relieve stress safely. Benefits of this slow, rhythmic, weight-bearing exercise include improved cardio-respiratory function, strength, balance and psychological parameters, as well as decreased falls in the elderly.

During a session, the client is guided through a set series of forms that last about 60 minutes. To participate in a full session, the client should be able to focus enough to learn movement patterns and be able to stand and shift weight from one foot to the other. In some situations, teachers are able to adapt movement patterns to accommodate special needs.
