Overlook Medical Center's staff will carefully evaluate your wound and overall health status at the first appointment. We may also take a blood sample or perform other simple tests to gather as much information as possible about your condition. The first appointment will probably take one to two hours.
Based on the information we collect, our team of physicians and nurses -- who will work with your primary care physician -- will develop a customized treatment plan. Typically this will include a series of appointments with us, plus special dressings or bandages and detailed instructions on home care. We will monitor progress carefully with examinations, photographs and measurements of your healing wound, and week by week make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
In addition, we will explain how to care for your wound at home:
How to change bandages
Protect the wound from further injury
Use diet and exercise to speed recovery and prevent recurrence
If you need assistance from a visiting nurse, we will make the appropriate arrangements for you
Wound healing services are available at the Carole and Joseph Katz MD Wound Healing Center at Overlook Medical Center and Overlook Wound Healing – Union Campus.
