A cognitive communication disorder may result after a concussion, stroke or traumatic brain injury or from medical conditions that affect brain function.
At Overlook Medical Center’s Speech Therapy Department, cognitive-based therapy can help patients improve attention, organization and memory, and learn strategies to engage in conversation and daily planning.
- Computer-based practice exercises
- Development of strategies to enhance conversation effectiveness and daily planning
- Programs that improve attention, concentration, organization, executive function and memory
In addition, a brain injury support group is offered to provide education and an opportunity for patients to share their experience with others on a path of recovery.
