Study after study has demonstrated that dieting alone does not work. Diets that restrict food intake in some way, especially fad diets, may actually cause people to gain weight - for every diet the average person undertakes, he or she will put on five pounds. For a weight loss strategy to be successful, it needs to address not just how many calories you eat, but also how your body burns those calories. At Atlantic Health Weight & Wellness Center at Overlook Medical Center, we offer an approach to weight loss that assesses the way your body uses food for energy and we develop a multidisciplinary plan to help you understand and control your weight through a variety of therapies. Your metabolic medicine treatment plan may involve learning new skills, making significant lifestyle changes, taking new medications or even undergoing surgery at Overlook Medical Center.
At our research-based center, we utilize sophisticated medical equipment to determine your metabolic profile and create a customized weight loss treatment plan that addresses your individual needs.
