Transcatheter Valve and Structural Heart Therapies

The Valve and Structural Heart Center is located at The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center. It is New Jersey's largest structural heart program, providing patients with excellent, innovative heart care.

We perform more than 900 transcatheter valve procedures annually, placing our program in the top 3% of all structural heart programs in the United States. We have received the American College of Cardiology's Transcatheter Valve Certification. This certification highlights our commitment to providing the highest level of care. In addition, we offer several clinical trials for the treatment of valvular and structural heart disease. These trials are sponsored by well-known pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies.

Our multi-disciplinary heart team specializing in valve is experienced in both traditional and novel treatments for a wide range of valve conditions.

Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute offers its patients individualized care at a hospital named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery by U.S. News and World Report.  It was also named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care by Healthgrades. Additionally, U.S. News and World Report named Morristown Medical Center #1 overall in New Jersey five years in a row and recognized the hospital as high performing in transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

Nationally ranked in cardiology since 2012, the heart care team at Atlantic Health System includes cardiologists with expertise in multiple disciplines, vascular specialists, cardiac surgeons and allied health professionals.

Award-Winning Cardiology and Heart Surgery at Morristown Medical Center, NJ

I had the TAVR surgery at the age of 99 years old. I thank my heart doctors for encouraging me have the surgery. It has allowed me to stay socially active and best of all, to follow my lifelong love of music as a professional pianist. The pandemic ended my live performances, but now I perform every Saturday on Facebook Live for an even bigger international audience.

Henry Shapiro, TAVR recipient
