The Breast Center at Overlook Hospital

The Breast Center coordinates the hospital's mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, breast biopsy and bone densitometry services. We were one of the first hospitals in New Jersey to use a stereotactic breast biopsy system. A new addition to Overlook’s breast screening services includes the latest in digital mammography/CAD technology - this improves both the accuracy and speed of diagnosis for our patients.

Breast Center Accreditation and Care Team

The Breast Center at Overlook Hospital is accredited by the American College of Radiology and the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Our multidisciplinary care team -- board-certified surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, patient navigator and nurse educator -- specializes in breast imaging and is well versed in all aspects of breast disease, including pre-cancerous and cancerous conditions. We tailor a treatment plan to your diagnosis and consider you and your family as active participants with the care team.

This past year my mother was treated for breast cancer.  At the moment, she is progressing well.  During the entire "journey," the staff at Overlook Hospital was remarkably professional and competent.

Breast Surgery and Treatment

If surgery or treatment is required, we have breast specialists who offer breast-conserving surgery, reconstructive surgery, adjuvant and neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biotherapy and radiation therapy. In addition, Lymph Node Mapping with Sentinel Node Biopsy is used to gain information that may reduce the amount of surgery needed. We also offer a number of national clinical trials to our patients.
