Mark Calderon, MD, strives to achieve Atlantic Health System’s 2022 strategic goals in population health by improving clinical outcomes for individuals across communities. As CMO for the accountable care organizations (ACOs) affiliated with Atlantic Alliance – a Clinically Integrated Network (CIN), he provides clinical leadership over a variety of value-based payment models with our commercial, Medicare and Medicaid payer partners.
Provider engagement is foremost among the many strategies Dr. Calderon uses to improve the health of populations. Through education, analytics, performance improvement incentives and one-on-one interaction, he provides physicians with actionable items that result in better clinical and financial outcomes.
As an experienced physician executive, Dr. Calderon has been a leader in multiple large, complex payer settings where he honed his skills in population health management. He found that success was dependent upon the appropriate use of health services, which could be achieved through coordinating care efficiently, effectively managing and preventing chronic diseases, and improving quality performance.
Dr. Calderon earned his doctorate in medicine from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and completed his family practice residency at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey.
