Valerie Simon, Chief Marketing Officer, Atlantic Health

Throughout her childhood, Valerie often found herself in trouble for staying up past her bedtime, lost in a favorite book. Guilty as charged, her lifelong appreciation for great storytelling fires her passion for helping others and drives her as Atlantic Health System’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Valerie oversees the marketing, communications, public relations and brand strategy for Atlantic Health System. Throughout Valerie’s tenure, the Atlantic Health System Marketing and Communications team has been recognized for exceptional work on both national and local stages by Ad Age, Modern Healthcare, the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society, the Healthcare Marketing Report, the Telly Awards and the SPOKEies Awards. At the end of 2018, Atlantic Health System was recognized at the eHealthcare Leadership Awards, tying with Cleveland Clinic and receiving a platinum award for Best Content, leading the most competitive category, which included Gold and Silver winners such as Massachusetts General, Mayo Clinic, UNC Health Care and UCLA Health. The new website also received a silver award in the category of Best Patient Access and Convenience.

Valerie earned a BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government from American University. A lifelong learner, ten years ago Valerie co-founded PR Student Chat (#PRStudChat), one of the earliest remaining Twitter-based communities, bringing together PR students, professionals, and educators for dynamic conversations about public relations and providing opportunities for learning, networking and mentoring relationships. In 2019 Valerie was named an Aspen Scholar and the Millennium Alliance Healthcare Marketing Innovator of the year. She and her husband live in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and have two children.
