Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Family Surgery Program

Children who need surgery are usually anxious about it, and so are their loved ones. The Family Surgery Program at Atlantic Health System Children's Health can help prepare your child for surgery and alleviate some of the stress and anxiety of a hospital.

We help patients and their families become familiarized with the operating room as they learn what to expect before, during and after surgery. As part of Atlantic Health System Children's Health, our program creates a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere that encourages children to communicate their feelings about hospitalization and develop a sense of security.

On our age-appropriate tours, patients will be introduced to our hospital personnel, medical equipment and routines. In addition, we provide a pre- operative teaching program, including a slide presentation with basic educational information designed for younger audiences.stay for both of  you. This innovative service – the first of its kind in New Jersey – has been helping make the surgical experience a little easier for parents and children for more than a decade. Orientation programs for children, teenagers, and families are regularly scheduled by contacting the Child Life Program.
