Morristown Emergency Services

The Sameth Emergency Department at Morristown Medical Center provides urgent, life-saving care, as well as state-of-the-art evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the most critical patient cases. Our modernized department boasts private examination and trauma rooms, centralized nursing stations and observation units for continuous patient monitoring. We are also home to the Gagnon Children’s Emergency Department, which provides access to expert pediatric specialized care.

We are home to a verified Level I Regional Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and designated a Level II by the state of New Jersey. Our center has a helipad for medevac air transport and has easy access for ground transportation. What’s more, through the Atlantic Health System Transfer Center, we can expertly coordinate the transfer of patients or their loved ones in need of assistance from anywhere in the world to Morristown Medical Center.

Our highly-trained staff consists of board-certified physicians, registered nurses, residents and technicians, all with extensive training in emergency medicine. They provide 24/7 services, including:

– specialists to help children and their families understand and manage the hospital experience
Comprehensive stroke and concussion care
– for acute neurological trauma and mild traumatic brain injuries
Fast-track area
– for the care for minor injuries and illnesses
Geriatric services
– dedicated area for the specialized treatment of older patients
Neurosurgery
– for the surgical treatment of neurological disorders
Orthopedic surgery
– for the treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system
Pediatric emergency services
– for the care of minor injuries to life-threatening illness in children
Plastic surgery
– for procedures required after some injuries
Radiology suites and diagnostic equipment
– including a dedicated area for emergency patients that provides magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound
Trauma care
– for the quick diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening injuries
