The Next-Generation Operating Room

Breakthrough robotic technology is now capable of more surgeries with less pain, easier recoveries, and better outcomes. The Chilton Medical Center Foundation’s current philanthropic initiative is helping bring it to our community.

Surgery Has Changed

That’s good news for patients who like less pain, fewer complications, and better outcomes.

For many common procedures, large incisions and long recoveries are things of the past. The advent of minimally invasive techniques, has ushered in a new era of greater precision and fewer risks.

Over the last decade, robotic surgery has become the gold standard. Time after time, studies have shown benefits like fewer post-operative complications, shorter inpatient hospital stays, less pain during recovery, reduced need for opioid pain management, and more.

Now, robotic surgery is poised for another giant leap forward. The next-generation equipment builds on the achievements of its forebears and greatly expands the range of cases for which a robotic approach is possible, extending the benefits of robotic surgery to more patients than ever before. 

A Next-Generation Operating Room in Your Backyard

The da Vinci Xi will triple Chilton’s robotic surgery capabilities. Until recently, the benefits of robotic surgery were available only to patients requiring a narrow range of simple procedures. 

Today, the da Vinci Xi has broadened that scope significantly, creating a revolution in robotic surgery that extends its benefits to a far broader variety of cases:

A Philanthropic Opportunity

Chilton Medical Center’s multi-specialty surgical team has evaluated the needs of our community and, after careful analysis, determined that the da Vinci Xi is ideally equipped to meet them.

Atlantic Health System—which includes Chilton, Morristown, Overlook, Newton, and Hackettstown medical centers—has endorsed the surgical team’s recommendation and committed more than $1 million toward acquiring this $2.4 million device.  

Knowing that the da Vinci Xi will deepen Chilton’s ability to serve its patients and community, the hospital is enthusiastically seeking $625,000 in philanthropic support.
