The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Morristown Medical Center offers the following additional training sites:
Internal Medicine Faculty Associates (IMFA)
IMFA is a private office practice located in a brand new office suite with clerical, medical technician, nursing, social work support and a wide range of ancillary services.
Residents are taught to assess and manage a variety of acute and chronic disease states with the assistance of faculty, translators and library resources.
IMFA hosts an adult practice and a multitude of subspecialty clinics throughout each month for dermatology, endocrinology, rheumatology and physiatry. Additional clinics offered at Morristown Medical Center offer podiatry, HIV, HIV/Hepatitis C, pediatrics, neurology, breast, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, surgery, tuberculosis (TB), adolescent medicine, and ear, nose and throat (ENT).
Private Physician's Offices
During elective experiences, residents are expected to spend substantial time in other private office settings – from general internists to subspecialty practices. Such exposure enhances residents’ ability to see what life after training will be like.
Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities
The Morristown area features many nursing and assisted living facilities. Residents work with patients in these settings during their geriatrics-palliative care rotation, as well as during some elective experiences.
Inpatient Hospice Unit
Atlantic Health System has its own inpatient hospice unit, which is currently a "floating unit" within the hospital itself. The medical director is one of our full-time faculty members, and residents benefit from lectures and experience with our two fellowship-trained palliative care specialists. Opportunities for exposure to this particular setting are growing, with current weekly palliative care rounds offered during the geriatrics-palliative care rotation.
Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute
This inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facility is located near the hospital. It houses the Sleep Center, the department of physiatry (including physical therapy) and audiology.
