Award Places Hospitals in Top One and Two Percent of Hospitals in Nation for Clinical Performance

February 12, 2019, Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System today announced that Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center were the only hospitals in New Jersey to achieve the Healthgrades 2019 America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ and America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™, respectively.

Morristown Medical Center was the only hospital in the state to be recognized as one of ‘America’s 50 Best Hospitals’ for the fourth consecutive year. Overlook Medical Center was recognized as one of ‘America’s 100 Best Hospitals’ for the third year in a row. The distinction places Morristown Medical Center in the top one percent and Overlook Medical Center in the top two percent of hospitals in the nation for clinical performance.

More than 4,500 hospitals nationwide were assessed across 19 conditions and procedures by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Atlantic Health System hospitals were recognized out of 68 eligible hospitals in the New York-New Jersey area* to make these prestigious lists.

“Morristown Medical Center is committed to the highest quality standards, clinical excellence, and coordinated care—driven by the partnership between our medical staff and clinical team members,” said Trish O’Keefe, PhD, RN, president of Morristown Medical Center. “As one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals, we will continue to foster a safe, healing environment for our patients and communities, and create and implement best practices we can share with hospitals across the nation.”

“Overlook’s recognition, now three years running, as one of ‘America’s 100 Best Hospitals,’ is a clear indicator to our patients, their families and our community that Overlook is the place to turn to for high quality, compassionate care,” said Alan Lieber, president of Overlook Medical Center. “Our focus on quality and a culture of innovation has led widespread recognition of Overlook as the region’s premier provider of care.”

“Exceptional outcomes are only possible when a hospital commits to high standards of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization,” said Brad Bowman, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. “We applaud recipients of the Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award for their dedication in providing top-tier care to their patients.”
