Frequently asked questions
The expansion is necessary to meet the growing health care needs of our community. As health care innovation and needs continue to evolve, our existing facilities must evolve with them. This expansion will allow us to provide increasingly sophisticated care, accommodate more patients, and make the hospital more convenient for all.
The expansion will improve access to critical health care services, increase space availability, and offer specialized treatments that may not otherwise be available locally. The expansion will also create jobs and boost the local economy, maintaining the Morristown area’s reputation for a high quality of life.
Throughout the 130-year history of Morristown Medical Center, the hospital has undergone changes that have required construction. As we have throughout all of those advancements, we are committed to being supportive and cooperative with our neighbors. We are working closely with local officials and community members to minimize disruptions during construction. We know that residents have serious concerns about their quality of life during this project, and we will maintain open communication with our neighbors and the area as a whole. We will continue to hold meetings for residents to share their concerns, and we will continue to be open throughout the construction process.
By increasing capacity, reducing wait times, and providing access to more numerous and specialized treatments. Our mission is to provide the pinnacle of care for our community.
By bringing the most advanced medical care to our community, including state of the art surgical suites, enhanced imaging and a more patient-centric environment, we are reducing the need for patients to travel to other cities for specialized treatment.
The Sameth Emergency Department is nearing completion on a phased improvement project that, when combined with the benefits of the hospital expansion, will increase patient capacity by at least 65 percent.
Absolutely. We want to assure all our patients and community members that our care is only improving, and will continue to improve during construction.
No, the hospital’s expansion will not impact insurance coverage in any way.
Under the proposed plan, construction would take approximately five years to complete. Please be assured that all hospital services will remain fully operational during this period. Patient care will continue without delay or interruption.
As part of making Morristown Medical Center more convenient, we will be significantly increasing parking availability through the expansion. There will be more parking available, and traffic flow on surrounding roads will be improved. This will resolve the limited parking we currently have available.
We understand that traffic and parking are major concerns during the construction itself. To address this, we are working with state and local officials and professionals to ensure minimal impact on local roads during construction.
The safety of our patients, staff, and community is our top priority. While construction will be removed from day-to-day activity, we have a comprehensive safety plan in place that includes secure zones, traffic management, and strict adherence to all regulations.
We are incorporating sustainable building practices into the expansion, including energy-efficient technologies, water conservation measures, and eco-friendly materials. We value the beauty of our area, and will be a part of preserving it. Our goal is to be a model of environmentally-conscious construction.
We believe this expansion will benefit local property values. The hospital’s expansion is expected to enhance the neighborhood by improving local health care access and increasing job opportunities. Proximity to advanced health care facilities is a positive in real estate.
The project is expected to create hundreds of new jobs, both during the construction phase and upon completion, including positions for health care professionals, administrative staff, and support roles.
Yes, local businesses are likely to see increased activity from both the construction phase and the influx of hospital employees and additional patients once the expansion is complete.
Morristown is a great place to do business. Our team members, existing and new, look forward to patronizing our expansive small business community.
We are committed to transparent communication throughout the expansion process. We provide regular updates in addition to open public forums. We welcome the input of our neighbors and respect Morristown’s public process.
