Ahmed Galal, MD

Ahmed Galal, MD, FRCPC, MSc, is a fellowship-trained hematologist/oncologist with Advanced Care Oncology and Hematology, part of Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). He has more than 20 years of medical experience in the fields of cell therapy and hematologic malignancies, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood diseases and cancer, coupled with extensive research in these areas. These include lymphoma, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, small lymphocytic lymphoma, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, cutaneous lymphoma and CAR T-cell therapy.
After earning his medical degree from Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt, Dr. Galal performed his residencies and fellowships in Canada including an internal medicine residency and a hematology pathology residency at Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia; a fellowship in hematology at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario; and a second fellowship in allogeneic bone marrow transplant at the University of Toronto, also in Ontario.
Before joining AMG, Dr. Galal served as a hematologist/oncologist at Duke University, where he also held an instructional role in the Department of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. Prior to that, he was involved in hematology and bone marrow transplant and research at the Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls, SD.
Dr. Galal is a member of the International Association of HealthCare Professionals (IAHCP), which encourages research and education organizational activities for health care professionals and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). He is fluent in French & Arabic in addition to English. Dr. Galal is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
