Archana Sonig, MD

Dr. Archana Sonig is an obstetrician/gynecologist with Atlantic Medical Group Women’s Health at Sparta. She has a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery which results in less pain and a shorter recovery time for patients. During her residency, she was awarded for overall excellence in gynecological surgery and excellence in minimally invasive gynecology from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Dr. Sonig brings patience, compassion, and expertise to helping women seek relief from painful gynecological conditions including heavy and/or irregular menstrual periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts. She works closely with her patients, discussing with adolescents their concerns of heavy irregular and painful periods, increased facial hair, PCOS, and anemia. She provides personalized post-pregnancy care and options for long-term reversible birth control and hypoactive sexual desire disorder. She also helps women transition to menopause with hormone replacement therapy and osteoporosis management. Originally from India, Dr. Sonig attended Kasturba Medical College and earned a bachelor’s of surgery and bachelor’s of medicine degree, (MBBS), the equivalent of a medical degree in the United States. She further trained in OB/GYN at Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College where she obtained a master’s in OB/GYN and subsequently left India for the United States to pursue her residency in OB/GYN at the University at Buffalo in NY. Dr. Sonig is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
