Kimberly E McDonald, APN

Kimberly E. McDonald, MSN, APN, AGNP-C, is a nurse practitioner with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she has many years of experience providing compassionate patient care, education and advocacy, first as a registered nurse, nurse manager and nurse educator training and mentoring other nurses before becoming a nurse practitioner.

Kim works collaboratively with specialists in gastroenterology to provide optimal care and support to patients and families, helping them lead active and healthy lives by managing gastrointestinal conditions. Her comprehensive care includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up and education for numerous conditions including GERD, colon cancer screening, diverticulitis, abdominal pain, and nutritional counseling. Understanding the challenges presented by diseases of the intestinal tract, she is dedicated to empowering individuals and providing health counseling and education to help minimize complications and restore normal daily living.

Prior to joining the Atlantic Digestive Health Institute, Kim most recently served at Overlook Medical Center in a neurology medical- surgical/telemetry unit with a neurology/urology/gastroenterology focus, with direct patient care, managing the workflow of the department, and acting as a patient and family advocate. She believes in educating patients and their families on their conditions and the best ways to treat them and/or prevent their reoccurrence.

Kim earned her master’s degree as a clinical nurse leader and post-master’s degree as an adult-gerontology primary nurse practitioner, both from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. Previously, she earned her bachelor of science in nursing at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. She is licensed as a registered nurse in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
