Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Day Hospital

The Aresty Family Day Hospital, located on the first floor of Goryeb Children’s Hospital, is an outpatient unit that cares for pediatric patients who are admitted for procedures that require sedation or special monitoring. Our experienced health care professionals strive to minimize anxiety for you and your child in our warm, family-centered environment.

Specially-trained physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other support staff will care for your child during his or her stay. Our nurse manager directs nursing care and is available to assist you with any questions or concerns.

In cooperation with your child’s physician, the pediatric nursing staff will help plan your child’s nursing care from admission to discharge. We will monitor his or her condition frequently while in the Aresty Day Hospital and teach you how to continue care once your child returns home. Some procedures may require overnight observation in the pediatric unit; this will be determined by your physician.

Procedures and testing can be a stressful experience for the entire family, and we encourage you to participate in your child’s care during their stay. Your presence will help to calm your child’s anxiety when he or she is faced with unfamiliar people, procedures, and surroundings.

Day Hospital Meal Service

At the Aresty Family Day Hospital, we offer clear liquids such as juice, soda, water, or Italian ices for each child after their procedure. We encourage parents to let us know about each child’s special dietary needs. Children having treatments or testing that require longer stays in the Aresty Family Day Hospital will be able to order meals from our adult, pediatric and alternative choice menus.
