Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Cardiac Access Unit

Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center’s Cardiac Access Unit is dedicated to the care of patients who are arriving at the hospital on the morning of a cardiac or vascular procedure. This 28-bed unit, part of Atlantic Health System Heart Care, offers private rooms to prepare patients for surgery or cardiac procedures.

Families are welcome to visit patients prior to their procedure and stay in the spacious waiting area outside of the Cardiac Access Unit during the procedure.

The Cardiac Access Unit also provides care for patients who are transferring in from other facilities. The unit allows these patients to arrive in plenty of time to prepare for their procedure or surgery.

In addition, the Cardiac Access Unit discharges patients who are going home on the same day of their procedures. The nursing staff, working in collaboration with the physicians, ensures that all physical, emotional and educational needs for patients and families are met.
