Most major insurance plans cover virtual primary care visits, coverage and out-of-pocket costs can vary by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm your benefits, coverage requirements, and any patient responsibility.
Copays will not be collected during your visit but will be collected by Atlantic Health following the patient visit.
Joining a virtual primary care appointment is easy. You'll need:

Yes. Atlantic Health virtual primary care physicians have secure access to your Atlantic Health medical record, including your medications, allergies, previous visits, laboratory results, imaging and other important health information. This allows them to provide care informed by your complete health history.
Yes. Your visit summary is automatically added to your Atlantic Health medical record. If you already have an Atlantic Health primary care provider, they can review your visit notes, treatment plan and any follow-up recommendations.
Virtual primary care is appropriate for many routine and ongoing healthcare needs, including annual wellness visits, preventive care, medication management, chronic disease management, minor illnesses, follow-up appointments and reviewing test results. If your provider determines that you need an in-person examination or additional testing, they will coordinate the appropriate next steps.
Virtual primary care should not be used for:
- Severe chest pain, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Any symptoms that feels life-threatening or require immediate medical attention
- Request for controlled substances
- Any symptom that would require viewing a sensitive area of the body
That's okay. You can still schedule a virtual primary care visit so long as you are located in the state of New Jersey at the time of your appointment. If you're looking for an ongoing doctor, our virtual physicians can become your primary care provider. If you're simply looking for convenient care, you can also use virtual primary care without changing your current physician.
Virtual primary care can be used for almost all non-emergency primary care and urgent care needs, including annual wellness visits, sick visits, standard preventative care, chronic care management, medication management and many other reasons. You can establish a meaningful, long-term relationship with a top-quality Atlantic Health Virtual Primary Care clinician, without needing to visit an office in person. If you already have a primary care physician, you can use Virtual Primary Care for sick visits or intermediate follow-up visits in between your wellness visits without disrupting your established primary care clinician relationship.

If you choose a Virtual Primary Care doctor, we'll do our best to have you see the same doctor for future visits. If your doctor isn't available, you may see another provider. Either way, your care stays connected through your Atlantic Health medical record, helping ensure a seamless experience.
Yes. You can schedule with a specific virtual primary care physician or choose the first available appointment if you'd like to be seen as soon as possible.
Our concierge support team is your first point of contact for non-clinical assistance related to virtual primary care. They can help with appointment scheduling and follow-up, referral scheduling, callbacks and technical assistance for virtual visits.
Because our concierge team is non-clinical, they cannot answer medical questions. Clinical concerns are routed to the appropriate care team and escalated to a provider when needed. Billing questions are directed the Atlantic Health billing department.
