Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation

Atlantic Health System’s Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation provides physician attendings, residents and other health care professionals with additional training and education in their particular field of medicine, as well as instruction in basic skills, such as eye-hand coordination and hospital alert codes. This program is offered in conjunction with Morristown Medical Center’s Department of Surgery and is accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 Comprehensive Education Institute.

Our state-of-the-art simulation laboratory has medical equipment and technology commonly-used at Morristown and Overlook medical centers, including those utilized in laparoscopic surgery, internal medicine, respiratory, ultrasound and other areas of medicine. We also have mock areas of the hospital, including an operating room with scrub sinks and crash carts, a birthing room, and an intensive care unit (ICU), complete with mannequins (SIM man and baby).

Curriculums can be tailored to meet the needs of any individual residency or department at our hospitals. Education is provided individually or in groups, and our students can watch live surgeries via telecast. College students can also participate in our mentorship program.

In addition, our program provides advanced trauma life support training using both pediatric and adult patient simulators. Instruction in bio-mechanics – how to properly lift and move patients – can be included.
