Da Vinci^® surgical system

Robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System offers an advanced, minimally invasive approach to surgery. It enables our specially trained surgeons to provide an alternative to traditional open surgery for procedures considered too complex or delicate to treat using standard minimally invasive technology.

Robotic-assisted surgery offers physicians the control, range of motion, and visibility of open surgery, but it also allows them to work through tiny incisions. This means that patients may benefit from reduced blood loss, less pain and scarring, decreased risk of infection, fewer complications, and a faster recovery time.

Mako SmartRobotics^TM

Patients who need a partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, or a total hip replacement now have access to Mako SmartRobotics^TMtechnology.

The process starts with a CT scan of the joint, which is loaded into Mako software and used to develop a 3D virtual model of each patient’s unique anatomy prior to surgery. Using this software, the orthopedic surgeon can better predict the size, placement and positioning of the implant for a more personalized, efficient surgical plan.

With the surgical plan programmed into the Mako robot, the orthopedic surgeon guides the robotic arm to remove diseased or damaged bone and cartilage from the joint. AccuStop^TM technology helps the surgeon better ensure the preservation of healthy bone. Mako also provides real-time data so surgeons can assess movement and tension of the new joint – one of the most important factors for implant durability – and adjust the surgical plan accordingly if needed.
