Ostomy care
We help patients prepare for and adapt to life after ostomy surgery with compassionate care, education and support.
Compassionate, evidence-based care
Becoming an ostomy patient can feel overwhelming. That’s why Atlantic Health ostomy care clinics are staffed by wound and ostomy care nurses who specialize in working with patients before and after ostomy surgery.
We provide compassionate, evidence-based care combined with personalized education to patients who have ostomies (also called stomas). The wound, ostomy and continence nurse serves as consultant, educator and patient advocate. Our nurse works together with the patient’s treatment team to prevent complications or to address them early.
Our primary goal is to help prepare patients to adapt to life after ostomy surgery and to ensure that the stoma produces positive outcomes and improved quality of life for our patients.
