MORRISTOWN, NJ – JANUARY 28, 2026 – Atlantic Health is pleased to announce the arrival of Melissa Lozano, MD, MA as the new System Medical Director of Women’s Health. A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and experienced physician leader, Dr. Lozano is dedicated to advancing high-quality, equitable care across women’s health at Atlantic Health.
In her new role, Dr. Lozano will lead the strategic growth of Women’s Health across Atlantic Health, advancing high-quality, patient-centered, and innovative care models that support women throughout every stage of life. She will collaborate closely with hospital Chairs and system leaders to drive initiatives that elevate care quality, foster innovation and ensure personalized experiences for our patients. Her leadership will be instrumental in strengthening partnerships across Atlantic Health hospitals, ambulatory sites, medical groups and care teams to enhance service integration and delivery.

Before joining Atlantic Health, Dr. Lozano was an attending OB-GYN at Mount Sinai West. She also served as Division Director of Generalists and Laborists and Postpartum Medical Director at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai West, where she led multidisciplinary teams, strengthened clinical operations, and drove initiatives that improved quality, patient experience and postpartum care.

Joining Dr. Lozano in this important work is Amanda Tempe, newly appointed Executive Director for Women’s Health. Amanda is a familiar and respected leader within Atlantic Health, having joined the organization in 2016. She began her journey as a practice administrator overseeing 25 primary care practices and, most recently, served as Director of Practice Operations for Atlantic Medical Group, where she led more than 50 physician practices across 50 locations and supported 450 team members.
Dr. Lozano completed graduate studies from Boston University School of Medicine and earned her medical degree from State University of New York, Downstate Medical School. She has a strong background in medical education and faculty development, having previously served as Assistant Residency Program Director and Faculty Wellness Champion, and has contributed to research and national presentations focused on clinical quality and maternal health.
