Hypoglossal nerve stimulation

Have you struggled with sleep apnea and tried CPAP machines with no relief? An alternative treatment, called hypoglossal nerve stimulation, works inside the body to improve sleep. Once implanted, the device is activated by the click of a remote at bedtime.

Benefits

Alternative to CPAP
The device treats the root cause of sleep apnea by applying gentle stimulation to key airway muscles during sleep, allowing you to breathe normally, and more importantly, sleep without a mask, hose, or machine.

Proven Procedure
The device is placed under the skin of the neck and chest during a short, outpatient procedure. After healing, the device is turned on and you’ll be ready to get the sleep you’ve been dreaming of.

How it works

A hypoglossal nerve stimulation device (e.g. Inspire) sends a gentle electric pulse while you sleep, causing your tongue to move forward. This keeps your airways open, allowing you to breathe normally during sleep.

The process

After meeting with our doctors to determine your eligibility, our ear, nose and throat specialist will complete a thorough assessment of your airways. If you’re a good candidate, a short surgical procedure is scheduled to place the device under the skin of the neck and chest. Soon after the procedure, you’ll return to have the device turned on and fine-tuned to your body.
