Atlantic Health System Cancer Care's professionally-led support groups are a great way to get emotional comfort and advice from other individuals who are experiencing similar challenges.

Support Groups and Programs at Morristown Medical Center


Ongoing Support Groups

  • In-Treatment Cancer Support Group
    Patients currently in active treatment and their caregivers are welcome to attend.

  • Living with Advanced Cancer Support Group
    Patients living with advanced stage cancer and their caregivers are welcome to attend.
    For a location and schedule, please call 973-971-7971.

  • Post-Treatment Cancer Support Group
    Patients who have completed active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation) and their caregivers are welcome to attend.

Ongoing Programs

  • Breast Cancer Pre-Surgery Program
    Breast cancer patients can learn how to better prepare for surgery. Family members and friends are welcome to attend and questions are encouraged.

  • Head and Neck Cancer Care Program
    Patients diagnosed with head or neck cancer and their caregivers are welcome to attend.

  • Post-Breast Surgery Program
    Women who have had either a lumpectomy or mastectomy and are six weeks to eighteen months post-surgery can partake in aquatic rehabilitation. Medical clearance is required.

  • Ostomy Self-Help Support Group

  • Platelet Disorder Self-Help Support Group

Support Group for Brain Tumor Patients

A virtual support group in which patients, family members, physicians, nurses, staff members and a guest speaker meet to share, learn and discuss the challenges and successes of living with a brain tumor.

Support Groups and Programs at Overlook Medical Center

  • Breast Cancer Support Group
    A licensed social worker and registered nurse lead a discussion-based peer support group for Overlook Medical Center's breast cancer patients. Virtual programs are held the fourth Thursday of the month for breast cancer patients in their first year of treatment and the second Thursday of the month for patients who have been diagnosed for more than a year.   • Living with Cancer Support Group
    Cancer is a complex disease with multiple psychosocial and emotional concerns. This monthly support group, held virtually, offers participants a unique place to connect with others who are also experiencing cancer treatment. In addition to support, the group will provide education and resource information to assist patients along their cancer journey. The group is professionally facilitated by a licensed oncology social worker via Zoom on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 2:30 to 3:30pm. Please call 908-522-5255 for further details.

  • Post Treatment Support Group
    This virtual support group for people who have completed their cancer treatment offers the opportunity to discuss issues and concerns related to survivorship. It is held the second Thursday of the month from 2:30 to 3:30pm. For more information and to register, please call 908-522-5349.

  • Cancer Support Group for Men and Women
    Men and women who are newly diagnosed with cancer, in treatment or up to two years post treatment can learn more about their condition, while sharing information and encouragement with others.
    Second Tuesday of every month, 1:30 to 3:00pm
