Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The Joan and Edward Foley Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Goryeb Children's Hospital provides award winning care to infants, children and adolescents with life-threatening illness and injury. In fact, we have received a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Our nine-bed, state-of-the-art PICU provides continuous monitoring of patients' respiratory, cardiac and neurological functions. Each child's room is designed with easy access to radiological tests, such as X-ray and ultrasound, and our computerized equipment allows for instant review of diagnostic and laboratory results.

Amenities include private room with telephones, Internet access, televisions, and CD, DVD and Play Station players. Parents may choose to sleep at their child's bedside in a pull-out bed chair or rest in specially designed Ronald McDonald sleeping rooms that are attached to the PICU. These rooms are equipped with a separate bathroom and shower area. A family waiting room area provides snacks, coffee, juice, refrigerator, television and a computer with Internet access.
