Frequently Asked Questions about Virtual Visits

After you create or log into your account, our receptionist will greet you in our virtual waiting room. Next, you'll chat with a nurse and begin your video consultation with a board-certified physician.
-
What patients can be seen virtually?
-
We provide care to adults and children over age 2 who are physically located within New Jersey at the time of the virtual urgent care visit.
-
What kind of technology do I need?
-
Make sure you have a smartphone, tablet (iOS or Android) or a computer with a microphone, camera and speaker. If you do not have this technology, please call us at 1-800-250-9953. Depending on your condition, our team will direct you to an in-person or phone visit as appropriate.
-
How much does it cost?

For patients with insurance, the cost of care will vary depending on copays, co-insurance, deductibles and other fees built into your plan. Please contact your insurance provider to verify if telehealth services are covered by your plan and what associated patient cost sharing may apply.

-
Who provides these services?
-
Virtual urgent care is staffed by Atlantic Health System's Urgent Care locations — including doctors, nurses and other team members — to ensure that you have the same quality of care. Our providers can connect you to local resources and our broader community of care.
-
Can I receive prescriptions from a virtual urgent care visit?
-
If your provider deems it necessary, prescriptions are handled in the same manner as an in-person visit and are delivered electronically to the patient's pharmacy. Our providers are unable to write prescriptions for narcotics/controlled substances such as codeine or oxycodone.
-
Is online medicine safe?
-
Yes. Guided by up-to-date clinical practice guidelines, and backed by decades of research and demonstrations, online visits are a safe and cost-effective way to extend the delivery of health care. Atlantic Health System has produced a series of standards, guidelines and best practices for providers to ensure that they are using these online platforms responsibly. This means patients receive the same quality of care as they would during an in-office visit.
Want to Schedule a Telehealth Visit with Your Doctor?
Most Atlantic Medical Group physician practices, including primary care providers and pediatricians, participate in telehealth. You can also make an appointment to see the doctor you usually visit right from your home.
