Cynthia M Jones, MD

Dr. Cynthia Jones is a board-certified general surgeon and part of Atlantic Medical Group’s Surgical Associates of Sussex County. After attending the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and her medical school education, Dr. Jones pursued her general surgery residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. She joined the Newton Medical Center surgical staff in 2012, where she now serves as the vice chair of the hospital’s department of surgery. Prior to joining Atlantic Health System, Dr. Jones was on staff at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital, also in Bronx, where she led a multidisciplinary breast surgery service and earned grants from the Susan G. Komen Foundation to care for breast cancer patients. She also organized a lecture series for the hospital’s medical students and residents. Dr. Jones’ background also includes time at her private practice in Louisiana, which led her to become chief of staff and chair of the department of surgery for the Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, LA. A member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Dr. Jones is a frequent lecturer on cancer awareness and prevention.
