Donna Marie Timchak, MD, is co-director of Fetal Cardiology at Morristown Medical Center and is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics. With more than 30 years of experience, she provides comprehensive care for a wide range of acquired and congenital heart disease. Her interests include diagnosis and optimization of long-term outcome for complex congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, fetal cardiac diagnosis and treatment, lipid analysis and inherited hyperlipidemias, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in hypertension, exercise physiology in post-operative cardiac patients, and the effects of the autonomic nervous system on children and adolescents. She embraces a family-centered model of care that involves collaborative decision-making.
Dr. Timchak worked full time at the Laboratory for Ultrastructural Biochemistry at Hospital for Special Surgery while finishing her chemistry bachelor degree at NYU. She earned her medical degree at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn, and performed her residency at New York-Presbyterian Children’s Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center. went on to become a Babies’ Heart Fund fellow during her pediatric cardiology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Children’s Hospital..
Dr. Timchak was an active associate clinical professor at NYPH-Columbia University Children’s Hospital of New York from 1991 to 2015 and remains an associate clinical professor of pediatrics there. She served as chief of the Pediatric Non-Invasive Cardiology Laboratory at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, where her work influenced improvements in quality, critical care and neonatology. She also served on the pediatric intensive care unit executive committee of RWJ University Hospital.
A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, the Fetal Heart Society and the American Society of Echocardiography, Dr. Timchak’s publications concern Noonan Syndrome genetics, aortic distortion in repaired transposition of the great vessels, Marfan Syndrome, vasopressin use in the post-operative period, and prenatal diagnosis of ductal aneurysm. She is a part of Atlantic Medical Group and participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
