James P Buwen, DO

Dr. James Buwen is a general surgeon with specialty training in bariatric surgery and advanced minimally-invasive surgery. Dr. Buwen graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his residency training at Rowan University-SOM, Stratford, NJ, Kennedy University Hospital/Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, serving as Chief Surgical Resident from 2013 to 2014.After residency, Dr. Buwen completed a fellowship in advanced minimally-invasive and bariatric surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.Dr. Buwen is a member of the Society of the American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society For Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), an associate member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association. He is a recipient of the ASMBS Certificate of Training in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for Fellows.
