Jason A Smith, MD

Jason Smith, MD, is an associate medical director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Atlantic Health and chairman of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Morristown Medical Center. He is a dedicated, personable, and highly committed physiatrist who excels in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Fellowship-trained and board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, he specializes in providing patients with compassionate and

conservative care, including musculoskeletal injections, fluoroscopic-guided spinal techniques and spinal cord stimulation.

As a physiatrist at Atlantic Health, Dr. Smith values his patients’ complete health with a patient-centered treatment plan that focuses on maximizing function and improving quality of life. He has a particular interest in educating patients about the nonsurgical treatment of the spine, nerves and musculoskeletal system.

After earning his medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ, Dr. Smith performed specialized residency training in physiatry at the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, where he served as the administrative chief resident. He followed that with fellowship training in interventional spine and sports medicine at Coordinated Health in Bethlehem, PA. He has amassed extensive coursework in spine health, fitness and pain management techniques.

Prior to joining Atlantic Health, Dr. Smith also served as a clinical assistant professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Commonwealth Medical College, as an interventional spine medicine training instructor for Coordinated Health and as the team physiatrist for Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Dr. Smith is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
