About me
Maryia Ovchinnikova, APN, FNP-C, is an advanced practice nurse with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Working in a metabolic clinic focused on weight management, she believes in treating patients as whole individuals rather than focusing solely on weight or numbers. Taking time to understand each patient’s motivations, challenges and fears allows her to build trusting relationships and partner with them through meaningful, sustainable health transformations. She is committed to reducing stigma, promoting education about metabolic health and recognizing the complexity of obesity as a chronic disease. Through a sensible, sensitive and evidence-based approach grounded in compassion and kindness, she strives to help every patient achieve improved health, confidence and their maximum potential.
Maryia obtained her associate degree in nursing from CUNY Borough of Manhattan Community College and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from CUNY School of Professional Studies, followed by a master’s degree in health care administration from Arizona Global Campus and a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from Chamberlain University. She has extensive nursing experience in acute care, infection prevention, bariatric services and community health, with a strong focus on patient safety, quality improvement and coordinated, patient-centered care, and holds the following certifications: APN-Resident License (NJ), RN License (NJ and NY), CIC, Critical Care Course, FEMA Incident Communication and System Certification and Infection Control Basic Training. She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
