Matthew Daniel Epstein, MD

Matthew D. Epstein, MD, is a sleep specialist with Atlantic Medical Group Pulmonology (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine with subspecialties in pulmonary disease and sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he has more than 25 years of experience treating a full range of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care and ensuring his patients are educated about their condition and treatment.

After earning his medical degree from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, Dr. Epstein performed a residency in internal medicine at The Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He then completed a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at New York University Medical Center, New York, NY. He also holds a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from State University of New York at Albany, Albany, NY, and serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).

Dr. Epstein has performed and published numerous clinical research studies related to both pulmonary and sleep medicine and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences and a reviewer for various medical journals. He is currently principal investigator for a prospective multi-center investigation on obstructive sleep apnea prevalence and the impact of treatment in patients with COPD, and is also leading the development of a novel multi-dimensional questionnaire to evaluate sleep hygiene. Dr. Epstein is a member of the professional organizations the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
