Mervet Asfour, MD

Dr. Mervet Asfour is a talented and experienced physician at Atlantic Medical Group Primary Care at Totowa. Board certified in family medicine with more than a decade of experience providing patient care and serving as both medical director and chief medical officer at Horizon Health Center in Jersey City, Dr. Asfour is skilled at managing care for acute and chronic conditions and ensuring that patients receive the best possible treatment. Dr. Asfour has an extensive background working with a diverse and often high-risk patient population. Her proven leadership ability – both clinical and administrative – represent her commitment to continually striving to improve the patient experience. Dr. Asfour is a thorough and dedicated physician who artfully blends compassion, medical care and preventive education to ensure the total health of each individual. Dr. Asfour performed her residency in family medicine at Overlook Medical Center, where she was awarded the Academic Excellence Award and the Teaching Award. She achieved her medical degree from Spartan Health Science University in St. Lucia and Ross University, Dominica in West Indies and she is fluent in Arabic. When she is not caring for others, Dr. Asfour enjoys game nights with her family and friends, playing and reading to her toddler and listening to old vinyl records.
