Enhancing patient experience
The Junior Volunteer Program at Chilton Medical Center is currently suspended because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Volunteers are an important part of the team at Chilton Medical Center, helping us enhance the patient experience and provide high-quality care. While this can be rewarding, it also requires a significant time commitment – both in terms of service hours and the training and medical prerequisites that must be met as part of our onboarding process.
Hear from one of our volunteers
Chilton Medical Center volunteer Anne Tizio says making patients feel welcome is one of the most important aspects of volunteering at the hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ.
Volunteer programs include:*
Adult
More than 200 adult volunteers provide support services throughout our hospital every day of the year.
Juniors
We offer a limited number of volunteer service positions to high school students ages 15 to 18.
*Volunteers are required to volunteer for at least six months. Junior volunteers must commit to a minimum of 50 service hours.
Volunteer application process
If you share Chilton Medical Center’s commitment to high-quality patient care, we invite you to join our team of more than 300 volunteers. The onboarding process begins with completing an application, followed by on-site interviews, where we take the time to find candidates whose interests, skills and availability meet our hospital’s needs. Please note that due to volume and compliance, we cannot guarantee acceptance of all applicants.
Application forms
We ask that prospective candidates provide information on employment and previous volunteer experiences, as well as personal information and position preferences. Applications for our junior volunteer program must be signed by a parent or guardian and include a reference form completed by an instructor or guidance counselor from the applicant’s school.

Completed applications can submitted via email or mailed to our address. If you are unable to download the application, you can call us and we will mail it to your home.
Please note that it may take up to 60 days after submission of an application for it to be processed. You will only be contacted if there is a match between your application and our current volunteer needs.
Reference letters
Two references are required for adult volunteers. If your application is approved, we will provide you with the necessary forms to be completed by a non-relative who has known you for at least five years.
Chilton Medical Center Auxiliary
