Volunteer Services at Morristown Medical Center

Year-round program

In this program, junior volunteers can gain experience serving others one day a week, either after school or on weekends.

Program dates

• Open for applications starting August 17 
  • Must be 15 by June 1 of the application year 
  • Volunteer Services will be in touch on a rolling application basis as space and availability permits

Application requirements 

• Age to apply: 15-17 years old
• Minimum work requirement: Two hours one day after school during the week for six months 
• Shifts on the weekdays are as follows: 
  • 3:00pm - 5:00pm 
  • 4:00pm - 6:00pm 
  • 5:00pm - 7:00pm 
• Please note absence policy before applying:  
  • Three absences within two months will lead to release from the program
• Must meet health and letters of recommendation requirements 

Health and reference requirements

• Confirmed vaccinations: (proof of protection if no vaccine records exist)  
  •  Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) 
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) 
  • Hepatitis B (for the ER or NICU depts only) 
  • Tuberculosis 
  • Flu 
  • Covid (optional) 
• Two letters of reference (suggestions include past employers, neighbors, volunteer organizations, etc.; applies to all volunteers)

Summer Junior Volunteer Program

Program dates

• Application opens on March 1, 2027 at 12:00am and closes on March 7, 2027 at 12:00am 
• Program runs from June 25 - August 13, 2027 
  • Applications are selected through a lottery system 
  • Please do not apply if you plan to have three or more absences within the eight-week program 
  • Allows for approximately 52-64 volunteer hours 

Application requirements

• Age to apply: 15-17 years old
• Minimum commitment of two four-hour shifts a week during the program 
  • Shifts: 
    • Monday - Friday 
    • 9:00am - 1:00pm 
    • 1:00pm - 5:00pm 
    • No weekends 

Health and reference requirements (applies to all adult volunteers):
