Growing Forward | Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute
As a national leader in cardiovascular care and the largest program in the state, Morristown Medical Center’s Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute tirelessly confronts the challenges posed by heart disease, but the community we serve has grown. To meet the demand, we have proposed a two floor expansion adding 72 beds. The hospital has undertaken these projects in multiple phases of construction, and even though some are complete or near completion the fundraising continues.
About Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute
Nationally ranked in cardiology since 2012, the heart care team at Atlantic Health System is comprised of experts in multiple disciplines who provide patients with comprehensive, personalized cardiovascular care. US News & World Report has named Morristown Medical Center one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, and Healthgrades has named Morristown Medical Center one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care.
Morristown Medical Center is the highest-volume program in New Jersey for trans catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), a minimally invasive procedure to replace the aortic valve without cardiac surgery. Morristown Medical Center also offers catheter-based interventions for mitral and tricuspid disease that are not offered at any other program in New Jersey, and few programs in the nation.
Patients come to Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute for the latest advances in cardiac care, including minimally invasive options, and cardiovascular diseases due to lesser-known causes. For example, Morristown Medical Center’s Chanin T. Mast Center for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) offers patients a supportive, multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of HCM, a genetically transmitted condition of the heart muscle.
As part of the ongoing mission to provide the most advanced heart care and continue to lead new research, the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute is currently undergoing a two-story expansion that house 72 private patient rooms and the latest imaging technology. Slated to open in 2019, the addition will allow Morristown’s team of more than 100 outstanding surgeons, interventionalists and cardiology specialists ample room to grow.
The expansion would not be possible without the support and generous donations from our community, and we thank those who have chosen to make a difference. Our foundation offers information on how you can contribute >
