Leaving the hospital & care after your visit

When leaving the hospital, patients will receive essential information, including post-treatment care instructions, medication details and follow-up appointments. This will help ensure a smooth transition and continued recovery at home.

Patient with nurse

Before going home from the hospital

When the person who will take you home has arrived:

  • Notify your nurse
  • Decide with your nurse whether or not you will need a wheelchair to leave your hospital room
  • Check all closets, bathrooms, nightstands and tray tables for your belongings; the hospital cannot be responsible for personal items left behind
  • Retrieve all valuables and medications from the security and pharmacy departments, if applicable
