Adult volunteer positions at Overlook Medical Center are available in the main hospital, Hersh Children's Center, Carol G. Simon Cancer Center and a variety of other patient care services throughout the hospital. Specific roles include:
- Child life
- – provide supervised play activities for hospitalized pediatric patients
- Messenger
- – deliver items throughout Overlook Medical Center; including flowers, gifts and charts; escort visitors; and accompany patients to appointments
- Emergency department
- – assist patients and visitors as a volunteer patient liaison
- Gift shop
- – work at the register or stock displays in our hospital's two gift shops
- Delirium prevention bedside companion volunteer
- – visit adult patients at their bedside and provide therapeutic activities and companionship
- Information desk
- – provide assistance, both in-person and over the phone, for callers and visitors to our hospital
- Musicians
- – provide piano and guitar music for visitors and guests in the main hospital lobby
- Pet therapy
- – provide pet therapy services to several areas of Overlook Medical Center; the owner must fulfill all volunteer requirements and the animal must be certified through St. Hubert's
