Atlantic Health hospitals set safety standard with Leapfrog “A” Grade

MORRISTOWN, NJ – MAY 6, 2026 – Five Atlantic Health medical centers earned top marks for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in its Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grades. Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center, Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center, Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center and for the first time, Atlantic Health Hackettstown Medical Center earned coveted ‘A’ Grades in the biannual report measuring a hospital’s performance across numerous safety metrics.
Atlantic Health Morristown has maintained an ‘A’ Grade since Fall 2015 and Atlantic Health Overlook has been a consistent ‘A’ since Spring 2021.
Atlantic Health Hackettstown’s first ‘A’ Grade reflects significant strides in improving its Leapfrog score, thanks to a sustained commitment to continuous improvement. Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center also continues to demonstrate meaningful progress, which was recognized with a high ‘B’ Grade, positioning them within striking distance of the top Leapfrog safety rating.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
