Atlantic Health Welcomes New Leaders to its Board of Trustees

MORRISTOWN, NJ – JULY 2026 – Atlantic Health has welcomed three outstanding leaders to its Board of Trustees and proudly appointed a new Vice Chair to support the organization’s governance.  In joining the health system’s impressive roster of trustees, Hans Dekker, Dr. Thomas Kloos, and Patrick Ramsey are contributing their expertise in nonprofit development and social impact, patient care and population health, and mergers and acquisitions.  Michael Ranger, a dynamic business leader who has served as an Atlantic Health trustee since 2023, has stepped into the Board leadership role of Vice Chair.

A graduate of Bates College and the University of California, Berkeley, Hans Dekker serves as President of the Community Foundation of New Jersey.  For nearly 50 years, the Community Foundation has collaborated across New Jersey and beyond to create a meaningful philanthropic legacy that improves lives and tackles societal challenges.  The Foundation manages over $1 billion in assets and 1,200 funds.  Since joining in 2003, Mr. Dekker has overseen management and direction of more than $750 million in social impact grants to address food security, maternal care, affordable housing, wellness and more.  Having previously served as Executive Vice President of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and Chair of the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers, Dekker currently serves as a Trustee of the Hyde and Watson Foundation and the Ohl Foundation. He is a former board member of St. Benedict’s Preparatory School and Miraclefeet, an international nonprofit dedicated to improving children’s health around the globe.

Thomas H. Kloos, MD is a physician executive with 30 years of experience in clinical practice, leadership, governance, and population health.  Widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost leaders in accountable care, Dr. Kloos served as Board Chair of the National Association of Accountable Care Organizations in 2020.  His contributions to The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services learning collaboratives and presentations at Health Affairs, the Alliance for Health Policy, the American College for Medical Quality, and Becker’s Healthcare have guided policy, quality improvement, and the evolution of physician-led population health models.  Kloos previously served as a Vice President for Atlantic Health, overseeing care transformation and performance across multiple Medicare Shared Savings Program risk models.  As President of the Atlantic Health Accountable Care Organization and previously Optimus Healthcare Partners, he built one of New Jersey’s strongest value-based care programs, covering 500,000 attributed lives and garnering honors for quality, operational excellence, and cost stewardship.  After completing his MD from the University of Louisville School and Medicine and completing residency at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, Kloos practiced primary care internal medicine for three decades and taught at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Chairman of Global Mergers & Acquisitions at BofA Securities, Patrick Ramsey oversees the firm’s mergers and acquisitions business, ensuring world-class delivery of advisory services to major corporations and financial sponsors around the world.  A member of the global corporate and investment banking (GCIB) Executive Committee and senior sponsorship board of the Women’s Leadership Council for GCIB and Global Markets, Ramsey has advised on over $1 trillion worth of transactions during his career.  He was appointed to his current role in 2021 after a decade in successive roles as head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions and head of Americas Mergers & Acquisitions. Ramsey works on a broad range of domestic and cross-border M&A situations, including activism and raid defense, across diverse industries.  He joined Merrill Lynch in 1995 after working in investment banking for Kidder, Peabody & Co.  Ramsey proudly serves on the board of READ Alliance, a non-profit that trains and employs high school students as reading tutors for younger peers in under-resourced communities, principally in New York City. He has served as a board member for New Jersey’s Delbarton School, providing college preparatory education for grades 7-12, and The Peck School, an independent co-educational K-8 day school.  Ramsey received an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School after earning a BA cum laude from Colgate University.

Following three highly engaged years as an Atlantic Health trustee, Michael W. Ranger has accepted the Board leadership role of Vice Chair.  Co-founder of the private equity firm, Diamond Castle Holdings, Ranger formerly served as Chief Executive Officer of Covanta Holding Corp., a world leader in sustainable materials management and energy solutions.  Under his leadership, Covanta’s stock price nearly tripled and the organization completed a $5.3B acquisition by EQT Infrastructure. Ranger previously served as Co-Chairman at DLJ Global Energy Partners and is a longstanding member of the board of directors of ConEdison, Inc.  He is former chair and trustee emeritus of his alma mater, St. Lawrence University; an honorary trustee of The Seeing Eye Board of Trustees, which he chaired from 2005 through 2009; and previously served as board president of the Morristown-Beard School. He proudly serves on the board of LifeCamp, Inc., a nonprofit providing enriching summer camp experiences for young Newark residents.
