Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Nursing Externship Program

The Atlantic Health System Nursing Externship Program offers nursing school students in their final year an opportunity to work side-by-side with a team of nurse preceptors at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center.

Participants are educated in a clinical specialty, learn critical thinking skills and build confidence for future nursing careers.

BSN students starting their final year of nursing studies are eligible for these paid positions, which require a full-time commitment, including every other weekend. Candidates must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average and will be asked to provide transcripts, as well as two letters of recommendation from instructors at the time of interview.
